Acquiring knowledge regarding the field of study of extraction metallurgy, responsibilities included studying the different unit processes and operations in the plant processing circuit, reporting to supervisors, sampling and all safety measures that were knowledgeable with regards to the mine.

• Achievements included being an independent on site and trusting my ability to be able to do the work.
• Working in a male dominant environment included me learning how to stand up for my self and made me more confident in my decisions on site.
• Being exposed to the working environment straight out of high school was crucial for my growth as a female metallurgist, I was more determined to become what I set out to be.

Part-time teaching for Grade 2 pupils in English, Mathematics and Afrikaans.

• Achievements included being more patient with younger learners, understanding how they work for their development and the different ways they try to understand themselves and their work.
• Also, learning how to work with other teachers/colleagues and how to be independent amongst the older employees.

Responsibilities included completing transactions and helping customers with over-the-counter purchases.

• Achievements included working in retail and understanding customers.
• Working with money taught me to be more responsible and show my integrity.
