Accomplished professional with extensive expertise in safety system auditing, incident investigations, and inspections. Demonstrates proficiency in conducting visible field inspections and implementing VSP protocols to enhance workplace safety. Skilled in open pit mining operations, including load and haul, blasting, drilling, and equipment inspections. Adept at project management and logistics within construction and engineering services. Committed to delivering effective awareness training and coaching to foster a culture of safety. Career goals include advancing leadership roles in process lead operations and supervision within the mining sector.
1. Safety & Compliance Ensure mining operations, health and safety objectives and targets are achieved. Ensure the health and safety of all mining operations activities is a top priority. Ensure mining operation team compliance with safety requirements, if not the Mining Supervisor can decide a stop of work of the subcontractor to fix non safety issues Implement safety protocols, monitor compliance, and identify areas for improvement. Conduct regular safety inspections and field audits. Ensure safe blasting practices and exclusion zones. Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions. Promote a strong safety culture on site. Maintain high standards of performance and adopt a proactive approach to Health & Safety issues. Review all tasks and documents related to the tasks to ensure all hazards have been identified and relevant controls in place. 2. Contractor Supervision & Coordination Participate in developing a short term mine plan and scheduling based on weekly plan Monitored contractor compliance with the mining contract, scope of work, and agreed KPIs to maintain operational standards. Supervise the mining contractor’s day-to-day field activities. Plan open pit activities: bush clearing, topsoil stripping, overburden striping, production drilling, blasting, load and haul. Ensure accurate mine plans to support production including support activities like production drilling, blast holes sampling, gamma reading down the hole. Manage the mining fleet and ensure optimal selection and availability to the mining operations. Verify that adequate manpower and equipment are deployed by the contractor. 3. Operational Oversight Monitor and oversee contractor performance in: Overburden stripping. Drilling, sampling, probing and blasting activities. Load and haul operations. Waste and ore haulage respectively to dumps and stockpiles. Crushing and screening operations. Attrition operation in the pit. Ensures activities follow the approved plan, production schedule, and quality requirements. Ensure adherence to the mining contract and highlight any deviations or omissions. 4. Quality Control Maintaining high quality standard in mining operations. Monitored ore dilution, ore loss, and material segregation to uphold high-quality mining operations. Ensure proper grade control and ore/waste separation. Verify that crushing and screening meet product specifications. Manage and execute statutory inspections of all equipment within area of responsibility i.e., licensing, maintenance, pre-trip inspections of equipment. 5. Reporting & Documentation Documented the terms of agreement to ensure clarity and accountability. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports. Tracked contractor performance against plan and KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring alignment with operational goals. Maintain records of equipment availability, utilization, production, and delays. Report operational issues and risks to management 6. Cost & Productivity Monitoring Monitor productivity and identify improvement opportunities. Minimize rework, delays, and operational inefficiencies. Support cost control by ensuring efficient operations. 7. Communication & Collaboration Act the primary field contact between owner and contractor. Coordinate with geology, survey and planning teams. Participate in planning and review meetings.
Enhanced safety protocols by conducting regular site inspections.
Coordinated logistics for smooth transport of mined resources to processing plant.
