Implement the Environment and Water Quality Monitoring Program as well as the Namibian Shellfish Sanitation Program
Perform weekly water sampling at the various monitoring sites, record water and environmental parameters and present parameter trends
Be responsible for the smooth running of the chemistry and phytoplankton labs and ensuring the timely analysis of all samples and the recording of results onto the database
Be responsible for ensuring the calibration and maintenance of all lab equipment and consumables
Carry out monitoring of HAB's and aquatic diseases within the Namibian waters, with emphasis on toxins, harmful algae and WOAH-listed aquatic diseases
To assist the senior staff in conducting research, inter alia, on water and inshore oceanographic conditions
To assist in the Division's research and disease and quality control and to be responsible for the smooth running of all activities within the Division
To assist in short- and medium-term planning and coordination of research and day-to-day activities within the Division, including optimal utilization of personnel appointed
To supervise and conduct in-house training of technical staff within the sub-division and, where applicable, other personnel

• The Kavango and Zambezi River Bi-annual Biological surveys.
• The trends of fish populations in the Kavango and Zambezi River annually.
• Preliminary study of floodplain fish monitoring and annual floodplain harvest in the Kamutjonga floodplains, Kavango River.
• The effects of rearing units on the survival and growth rate of African catfish fingerlings during winter.
• Effect of stocking density on the growth and survival rate of Clarias gariepinus.
• Effect of various feeds on growth performance on Coptodon rendalli.
