• Technical Analysis of Loading & Hauling operational data and optimizing the day-to-day operation of the load and haul fleet to achieve desired results and targets.
• Presenting technical reports and analysis accordingly while tracking KPI's for optimum production performance consistently.
• Interpreting, developing and implementing operational objectives and action plans for the Load and Haul process, to achieve the mining and business strategy.
• Investigating problems and improving load and hauling efficiencies to achieve budget plans and schedule compliance metrics. Through optimizing Excavator usage and carrying out Payload Analysis to investigate Haul Truck performance inefficiencies.
• Developing and executing catch-up plans in order to achieve quarterly and yearly targets and budgets as per contractual agreement. In collaboration with the Mine Planner.
• Identifying, designing and implementing best loading and hauling practices through carrying root-cause analysis of defective systems and practices, finding solutions to them
• Ensuring production targets are met without compromising quality standards and safety in the open pit, maintaining ISO Standards in line with the SHEQ departments guidance.
• Creating and enforcing Safe Work Procedures and SOP's for all HME within the department to ensure safe and quality operations and use of equipment by eradicating risks and hazards
• Managing and monitoring the open pit load and haul process operations and associated activities to ensure long term viability of the business through making sure it complements the cost structure to ensure profitability.
• Ensuring compliance to the Mine Plan and Client requests by making sure operations do not deviate from set schedules
• Where bottlenecks are present, investigating how to solve them in order to achieve desired results within set time frames
• Carrying out construction projects within the open pit such as ramp construction, waste dump management, haul roads, crew projects, traffic management.
• Providing the operations team such as the Pit Superintendent, with technical expertise on how to approach certain tasks and how to optimally load and haul complex mining blocks and areas especially during executing Pushback of the open pit
• Establishing strong working relationships with clients through exceptional communication skills, fostering trust and collaboration.
• Writing, reviewing and editing technical documents in accordance with template requirements.
• Developing positive working relationships with stakeholders to effectively coordinate work activities.
• Achieving successful project outcomes by maintaining accurate documentation and meeting strict deadlines.
• Monitoring and evaluating engineering performance to recommend improvements.
• Collaborating with other departments to facilitate successful project completion.
• Training the Load and Haul Technician in the field and delegating tasks while evaluating performance and quality, helping them transferring technical data and marrying it to field work.

Company Overview: The oldest gold mine in Namibia, open-pit, located in the Erongo Region and owned by QKR

• I firstly occupied this role for two periods
• 04/08/2020 - 04/09/2020 and 02/12/2020 - 28/02/2021 for the open pit mine. Both short term and as per request of the mine
• My last tenure under this role was for the underground mine from 23/09/21 to 31/10/22 when the project came to completion, reporting to the Project Manager and Rock Engineer.
• Worked in collaboration with the mines Geotechnical consultants (SRK), who came in to help us improve the Geotechnical logging precision.

My duties were, but not limited to, compiling reports, Geotechnical logging of Diamond Drill Core (Called for calculating, analytical and technical skills)

• Digitizing captured data into the format requested by the geotechnical consultant, SRK, for modelling.
• Using instruments such as the Goniometer for qualitative rock analysis.
• Conducting Geotechnical inspections underground which included post blast inspections during stoping and development, in conjunction with the Rock Engineer.
• Utilizing the Borehole Camera to survey strategic geotechnical holes to monitor and analyze the strike pillar and crown pillars reaction to stoping and blast induced vibrations.
• I am certified in using the BlastGyro for Long Hole Surveying to monitor hole deviation pre-blast.
• Furthermore, I also had duties outside of the Geotechnical area which helped me gain significant experience in the method of Sublevel Open Stoping Mining.. Working 12 hour shifts underground.
• Collecting production qualitative and quantitative data for the bankable feasibility study of the trial mine under a training program by the Project Manager.
• Monitoring contractor (Murray & Robert's) performance and compliance with contractual requirements targets and safety standards of Navachab Mine.
• Actively involved in learning, reporting and participating in: SHEQ, ensuring standard operating procedures are followed through active monitoring whilst on duty.
• Mine Machinery key performance indicators and calculations, such as but not limited to the Epiroc Boomer 282, Sandvik DL411, Epiroc SIMBA M4C-ITH, Epiroc SIMBA S7D and the CAT R1700G.
• Underground blasting license training, Production (Long Hole drilling), Recording and reporting daily on Underground mine development cycles (drilling, blasting, mucking, scaling and supporting, Mine Laws and Regulations and their stringent application from day to day within the operation, First Aid, Long Hole surveying using the BlastGyro, Efficient reporting on contractor activity and performance.
• Maintained compliance with industry standards through rigorous quality control measures during all phases of the project development.

Company Overview: Largest integrated zinc operation in Africa comprising an open pit mine and refinery. Part of the Vedanta Zinc International family.

• Geotechnical experience, focusing on the Slope Stability Monitoring of the mining operation.
• Daily Geotechnical monitoring of the open-pit walls using Reutech MSR300 and GroundProbe radars, Optron (Trimble S9) and Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR). Including pre and post blast inspections
• Carrying out visual pit wall inspections to identify slope falls and rock fall risks, furthermore taking any precautionary and preventative measures necessary.
• Carrying out Geotechnical face mapping.
• Gained hands-on experience in various engineering tools, software, and techniques to contribute effectively to multiple projects.
• Compiled and analyzed project data to assist in preparation of detailed reports for stakeholder presentations. This includes my Final Year project report in which i utilized ModFlow Software to investigate the impact of dewatering and groundwater to the optimization and performance of the operation.
• Enhanced team collaboration by working with other departments and consultants such as the Hydrogeologist to complete the project.
